Chartered

Penney, Ruddy & Winter was awarded the prestigious “Chartered Financial Planners” status by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) in July 2013. With over 100,000 members, the CII is the world’s largest professional body dedicated to the insurance, savings and financial services sector.

In addition to PR&W holding corporate Chartered status, the Board of Directors have all reached the highest level of qualification on an individual level. David Penney is a Chartered Financial Planner through the CII, Peter Ruddy is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner through the CII and Jeff Winter is Chartered under the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments.

Chartered Status is the industry’s gold standard for financial planning firms. It confirms that we have satisfied rigorous qualification criteria by retaining highly-qualified staff who subscribe to the membership conditions of the CII. It also involves a commitment to Continuing Professional Development and adherence to an industry standard Code of Ethics. You can view the Code at www.cii.co.uk/code.

When you use a Chartered firm, you are dealing with proven professionals. The CII is empowered by the Privy Council to award Chartered Status, and the award is only made in deserving cases.

Chartered titles are steeped in history, remaining the benchmark of professional excellence and integrity. Only the UK’s premier financial planning firms qualify for Chartered status. As at September 2013, there are only approximately 500 Chartered firms in the UK.

Chartered brings with it serious obligations. Holders are required to ensure the advice, service and ongoing support they provide is:

• of the highest quality
• based on the client’s researched needs
• provided by someone operating within their level of competency

Holders meet this in a number of ways:

• a commitment to professional development, including attaining the highest qualifications
• belonging to PFS, including adhering to the PFS Code of Ethics
• adhering to continuing professional development requirements

Chartered status enables us to demonstrate our professional commitment to raising standards of knowledge, capability and ethical practice. It demonstrates to our clients that they can expect the highest quality of service.
